Privacy
Short version: Eaves is a Mac app that runs locally. We don't collect analytics on what you do inside the app. The only data we process is what's strictly required to sell you a license, send it to you, and keep it valid. Last updated: April 30, 2026.
What stays on your Mac
Everything you do inside Eaves — playing music, dragging files onto the notch, summarizing PDFs, dropping documents on the AI chat — happens locally on your Mac. We never see those files, those queries, or what you listen to.
- Document analysis uses Apple Intelligence on-device. The text of your file is sent to Apple's on-device language model, not to our servers and not to OpenAI / Anthropic / anyone else.
- Music metadata (now-playing track titles, album art) comes directly from macOS's NowPlaying APIs or from the player you use (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). We don't transmit it anywhere.
- File conversions (drag-and-drop) run as local subprocesses. The file never leaves your machine.
What we collect when you buy a license
To sell you a license and email it to you, we process:
- Email address — used to send your license key and important notices about the product (e.g. major updates, security advisories). Stored in our database.
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive the last four digits and the country, which Stripe uses for fraud prevention and tax compliance.
- License key + activation device ID — the random key we send you, plus an opaque hashed device identifier the app generates so we can detect if a single license is being used on hundreds of machines (anti-abuse). The device ID is one-way hashed; we cannot reverse it to identify your specific Mac.
- Country (from billing) — required for sales-tax / VAT calculation.
What we don't collect
- No web analytics on this site (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Posthog).
- No telemetry from the app — we don't know which features you use, how often you open the notch, or what's in your shelf.
- No third-party trackers, no ads, no remarketing pixels.
What gets sent over the network — and when
The Eaves app makes network requests in exactly these situations:
- Once, when you activate — the app sends your license key + hashed device ID to
api.geteaves.appto verify it's valid. Response is cached locally for offline use. - Periodically (~once per week) — the app re-validates the license to detect revoked keys (e.g. after a refund). If your Mac is offline, the app keeps working from the cache for up to 30 days.
- Update checks — the app checks our update server (Sparkle framework) for new versions. You can disable this in Settings.
- Album artwork fetch — for music players that don't ship artwork locally, the app may fetch cover images from public CDNs (e.g. Apple Music API). No personal data is sent.
That's it. The app does not phone home with your usage, your prompts, your documents, or your playback history.
Cookies on this website
geteaves.app uses no analytics or tracking cookies. Stripe's hosted checkout page (which you're redirected to when buying) sets its own cookies for fraud prevention — see Stripe's privacy policy linked above.
Subprocessors
The third parties who help us run Eaves:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — sending you your license key by email
- Cloudflare — hosting the website and license-validation API
Your rights
If you're in the EU/UK or California, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about you (essentially: your email, license key, and country). To exercise any of those rights, just email support@geteaves.app from the address you used to purchase. We respond within 14 days.
Deleting your data also deactivates your license — we won't be able to validate it anymore. If you want to keep using Eaves after that, you'd need to buy a new license.
Retention
We keep purchase records (email + license + country) for as long as the license is active, and for up to 7 years after deactivation for tax / accounting purposes (legally required in most jurisdictions). Hashed device IDs are deleted as soon as the license is revoked.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll email everyone with an active license at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) are made silently — the date at the top tells you when the document last changed.
